|Winningham Kicks Off Run for Congress in Indiana’s Ninth District|
On Saturday, January 28, Robert Winningham, an economic development director and former aide to longtime U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton of Indiana, will kick off his run for the Ninth District congressional seat with a reception at his campaign headquarters, 418 E. Main Street, New Albany. The reception will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Winningham, 50, will run in the Democratic Primary next May, and is seeking to unseat first-term Republican Todd Young by running on a platform that focuses on job creation in Indiana. Next week, he will begin a tour of all 13 counties in Indiana’s Ninth Congressional District.
Winningham served as Hamilton’s Staff Assistant for Community Development for several years after first serving as his campaign media director on the 1992 campaign. He worked as a liaison between business and government, under Hamilton’s direction to “make government work better and cost less.”
After Hamilton announced his retirement in 1998, Winningham moved to Dallas, Texas to be close to his aging parents. There, he served as Executive Director of the Greenville Board of Development, then Executive Director/CEO of the City of Allen (Tx) Economic Development Corporation. In Allen, he spearheaded several projects that created nearly 5,200 jobs and over $750 million in taxable value.
Robert Winningham is a resident of Charlestown, Indiana, where he and his wife, Meredith, have two sons, Grey & Reid. For more information on his campaign, contact 812-590-2083 or visit winningham4congress.com.
