The arrest of an Austin area resident now charged with Level 6 felony theft was made Monday, November 27, by Scottsburg police. Cassandra M. Coulter, 28, Jack Morgan Road, was released on a $1,500 cash bond on Wednesday, November 29, one day before she was scheduled to attend an initial hearing in Scott Circuit Court.

Sgt. Rodney Watts was dispatched to the Family Dollar Store on U.S. Highway 31 North (North Gardner Street) to investigate a report of theft.

A loss prevention staff member told the officer that Coulter had admitted to have taken cash from the store’s register several times since October. Approximately $1,000 was missing. Coulter was booked at the Scott County Security Center that same day and then released when her bail was posted.

At her initial hearing on Thursday, November 30, Coulter learned that her initial jury trial date is March 5.
