Governor Mike Pence arrived in Salem on Wednesday Afternoon, May 1, to sign a recently passed bill into law at DanMar Family Pharmacy. State Representatives Steve Davisson (R- Salem) and Ron Grooms (R- Jeffersonville) were among those who attended the event.

Charlestown Postal workers will help Stamp Out Hunger Saturday PDF Print E-mail

The Charlestown Post Office will participate in the National Letter Carriers Association’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The food drive will be held this Saturday, May 11. The workers are encouraging the local community to participate in the food drive by bringing non-perishable items to the post office or by leaving a donation at your mailbox. Citizens wishing to participate who live on rural routes are asked to put their donation inside their mailboxes while citizens who resident in town are asked to put their donations next to the mailbox. If you would like to drop off your donation you may drop it off through next week during regular post office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs, in cooperation with the local high school, is looking for local families to host boys and girls between the ages of 15 to 18 from a variety of countries: Norway, Denmark, Spain, Italy and Japan – just to name a few.
